Aircraft lovers rejoice, the worlds heaviest airplane the Antonov 225 has touched down in Calgary. There is some speculation as to why the AN 225 has landed in Alberta, however sources report that the aircraft will be transporting oilfield equipment to Nigeria.
Whatever the reason, it is one hell of a sight. It's almost unfathomable as to how an object this big (With a 97 yard wingspan and weighing 640 Tonnes or 1,410,000 lbs) could ever get off the ground. We are not sure how long the Antonov will be on the ground in Calgary, however if you get the opportunity to see it take off I would recommend you get out there and check it out!
A special thanks to Cheri for sharing these photos of this 'sky giant' in Calgary
