What do you think about when someone mentions solar panels? Probably those old large and inefficient flat panels mounted on top of homes right? Well the good folks down at MIT are looking to change all that, they've created a new 3-D design which is sure to completely change how we view solar collection technology.
This design is basically solar cubes, or solar towers if you will... and MIT researchers claim the results from structures such as these have "power output ranging from double to more than 20 times that of fixed or flat panels with the same base area."
This is a bold new approach to solar collection and you can find out more information about the concept in the journal Energy and Environmental Science.
