Waterfall Hotel Built In Partially Flooded Quarry

Latley I've been reading about tons of new 5 Star hotels popping up all over Asia. From hotels built from retired war ships, to aircraft carriers, but it was this one that especially impressed me. The pictures here may only be a conceptual rendering, but don't let that fool you, construction has already started on the Shimao Intercontinental Hotel being built in an abandoned quarry.

That's right this 5 star resort is being built in the remains of an abandoned, partially flooded quarry by non-other than Atkins. Once complete it will rise 19 stories tall, contain 380 luxury rooms and will be part of a larger resort geared towards sports enthusiasts.

Since the quarry is already partially flooded, designers have decided to use the water as a feature for the hotel constructing 2 floors of guest accommodations as well as a restaurant underwater. The hotel will also boast a bevy of 'green' features, apart from the majestic waterfall and man made lake it will also make use of geothermal heat for electricity and heating but also will be making use of green space for roofing.

Thus far investors have sunk upwards of $500 Million (US Dollars) in the project, and rooms are estimated to run a visitor $320 per night.
