South Korea has brought the world many innovations in robotics, the latest though seems to have caught my eye and potentially prison wardens the world over. Let me introduce to you 'Robo-Guard'. This beefy and robust robot is the worlds first robotic correctional officer.
It was developed in South Korea and comes fully equipped with 3d cameras which allow it to watch over inmates and special software watches out for changes in their behavior. Should something be detected or deemed suspicious RoboCop I mean Robo-Guard, would then sound the alarm and call for reinforcements.
While Robo-Guard was designed to patrol prisons solo and independent of a operator, however it can also be used by co-workers with an iPad (not ideal I know...but if an iPad can do it an Android can do it better :) Field testing is currently underway, and hopefully sometime soon we'll be able to see this bad boy cruising the hallways of a prison near you.
